You buy a Zone 1 monthly that costs more than the Deutschlandticket, then learn a small TicketPlus add-on would have unlocked companions and transferability. Verkehrs- und Tarifverbund Stuttgart (VVS) uses seven main zones; Zone 1 is the Stuttgart basin. Special lines include the Zacke cogwheel railway and the Heslach Seilbahn. From September 2026, VVS is raising fares by nearly 6% network-wide.
